Aush harvesting going on in full swing in Manikganj

The harvesting of Aush paddy is going on in full swing in all the seven upazilas of the district with a bumper production, the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said.


Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has fixed a target to produce 15,497 tonnes of clean rice in the district during the current season from 5,000 hectares of land.

The target of cultivation exceeded this year than the last year, the DAE sources added.

DAE office sources said Aush paddy generally grows on alluvial soil and the cultivators are interested in cultivating the Aush paddy as they are getting good production. The government has continued to support cultivating more land in the district.

During the current season the government had distributed Aush seed among poor and marginal farmers free of cost as an incentive to boost the production of Aush in all seven upazilas of the district, the DAE office sources said.

The DAE office sources said all agri inputs, including quality seeds, fertilizers were supplied to the farmers in due time.

Deputy Director of DAE Dr Robiah Noor said the Aush cultivators are expecting a bumper production as favorable weather was prevailing all over the district, reports BSS.
