About The Exhibition: Kamruzzaman Sagar serves as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. He has dedicated the past 24 years to the practice of lithography, a medium known for its complexity and the considerable time it demands. Kamruzzaman portrays images that play in our subconscious minds and his lithos focus on imaginative expressions through the exploration of the unconscious mind. Kamruzzaman is also very concerned about the harsh realities of urban life, global warming and the human civilization’s overall vulnerability to climate change.

Art serves as a unique medium of communication that has existed since ancient times, enabling individuals to express their ideas and creativity. Kamruzzaman integrates technical expertise into his creations, expanding the limits of both artistic and scientific realms. This blend of logic and creativity elevates him into a fantastical domain, where each technological facet offers a chance for innovation. Through the Earth Metaphoric groups, he seeks to harmonize diverse elements that represent and link the various expressions found in his artwork and his thoughts.

Art fundamentally relies on individual interpretation and creativity. The contemporary world exerts a profound influence on our perceptions, prompting us to examine society and comprehend reality and personal convictions through the artistic medium. The art of printmaking necessitates a careful combination of preparation, technical skill, and artistry to produce a tangible result. It acts as a conduit for both visual and scientific inquiry, establishing a unique identity within the field of printmaking. His creations are deeply entrenched in themes of nature, reality, illusion, and narrative. The harsh urban environment and the relentless challenges posed by climate change significantly shape his perspective. His artistic endeavors are firmly anchored in the earth and the intricate web of life that exists on our planet. His work vividly narrates the rich diversity of plant and animal species that are at risk of being lost.

It has been clearly observed that Kamruzzaman has a great tendency towards experimentation. As a testament to this, he has been understood to focus on planets and other space forms as well as dotted and ambiguous forms. He is very cautious and purist about his prints and the printmaker frequently constructs an image and then deconstructs it, only to recreate it. He has enough courage to put up well-etched objects and figures and meticulously created motifs to make most of his images memorable. It is obvious that his mode of expression has a great mingling of realism with surrealism where one gets a story of his thoughtful world. – Press release
