Alliance Francaise opens group exhibition in quest of peace at La Galarie.
AFD opens group exhibition "In Quest of Peace" by Colours at La Galerie on Saturday, 6 December 2025, at 5:30 PM. Showcasing nearly 50 artworks by eight talented artists, the exhibition opened in a warm and vibrant atmosphere, drawing art enthusiasts, well-wishers, and members of the creative community. The opening ceremony was graced by Professor Mohammad Yunus, eminent artist, former faculty member of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, and Chairman of the Art Bangla Foundation, who attended as the Chief Guest. The event also welcomed two distinguished Guests of Honour: Luha Nahid Chowdhury, renowned architect and art organizer, and Sayed Azizul Haque, former professor of the Department of Bangla, University of Dhaka.
About the Exhibition:
Having studied at the same institution ([Institute of Fine Arts, now Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka]) and graduated in the same year, the artists share a close friendship and are well-acquainted with each other’s artistic expressions. Although life took them on different paths in the following years, it was during a reunion that they began to reflect on their immense potential. It was this reflection that led to the first Colours exhibition in 2016, which has since become a regular annual event. The upcoming exhibition marks the 12th edition of Colours. For the past nine years, these exhibitions have not only connected artists with audiences but also celebrated their collective journey, mutual growth, and provided a platform for discussion on the evolution and practice of their artistic ideas.
About the Artists:
• Farhana Afroz Bappy is a deeply contemplative artist working in abstract forms. Her works in this exhibition showcase her mastery of watercolor and illusion, reflecting her profound introspection.
• Farzana Islam Milky creates monumental impressions with her artistic skill, using everyday materials like newspapers to evoke deep emotional responses despite the modest scale of her works.
• Monira Sultana works primarily with ceramics and clay. Her current focus lies in combining terracotta with unconventional colors, creating a bold and innovative artistic path.
• Rebeka Sultana is an artist who repeatedly uses specific forms and motifs to create intricate visual compositions, demonstrating her skill and mastery.
• Rehena Yasmin follows traditional ceramic practices, blending classical techniques with a sense of vitality in her terracotta works.
• Rifat Jahan Kanta’s paintings evoke a garden of colors emerging from the almost colorless whirlpools of the subconscious mind.
• Shayla Akhtar is engrossed in abstract, semi-abstract, and expressionist abstract art. Her works are characterized by dynamic brushwork and carefully applied vibrant colors, creating a unique aesthetic experience.
• Sharmin Siraji, though living abroad, remains deeply connected to Bangladeshi nature. Her paintings often revisit local flora, including lotuses and water lilies, capturing the essence of Bangladesh.
