Bangladesh Int'l Badminton Challenge finals to be held tomorrow

Dhaka, 20 Dec -The finals of Younex-sunrise Bangladesh Sr Int'l

Badminton Challenge will be held Saturday at Shaheed Tajuddin
Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the capital.

The finals will be held in men's singles and doubles, women's singles and
doubles and mixed doubles.

After the finals, the prize distribution ceremony will be held in the
afternoon with Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain is
expected to preset in the ceremony as the chief guest and distribute the
prize.

Bangladesh Football Federation senior vice president Imrul Hasan will present
as special guest.

Bangladesh Badminton Federation acting president Kamrun Nahar Dana will
preside over the prize distribution ceremony.
 
Meanwhile, in the day's women's doubles semifinal, Kodchaporn Chaichana and
Pannawee Polyiam pair of Thailand beat lsuri Attanayake and Sithumi De Silva
pair of Sri Lanka Women's 21-8, 21-8 to reach the final.
In the women's singles semifinal, Polina Buhrova of Ukraine defeated Ishika
Jaiswal of USA 14-21, 21-15, 24-22 to reach the final.

In the men's singles semifinal, Xiaodong Sheng of Canada beat Nguyen Hai Dang
of Vietnam 21-18, 21-18 to move into the final.

In the men's doubles semifinal, Lau YiSheng and Lee Yi Bo pair of Malaysia
beat Md Rahatul Nayem and Mizanoor Rahman pair of Bangladesh 19-21, 21-12 21-
9 to advance to the final.

A total of 140 shuttleres -- 112 of men's and 28 of women's -- from 14
countries are participating in the five-day meet.

The participating countries are India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada,
Vietnam, Uganda, Japan, Sri Lanka, America, England, Singapore, Ukraine and
host Bangladesh.
