Bangladesh Bank (BB) today withdrew the administrator from Social Islami Bank PLC, marking another step in the ongoing consolidation of five Shariah-based banks under Sammilito Islami Bank PLC.

BB Executive Director and spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the development to BSS.

The officials withdrawn from Social Islami Bank are Bangladesh Bank Additional Directors Abdus Samad, Mohammad Bazlul Karim and Hammada Abdul Ati, along with Joint Director Rowshan Akter.

Earlier, on July 30, the central bank withdrew the administrator from Exim Bank.

With the latest move, administrators have now been removed from two of the five Shariah-based banks brought under Sammilito Islami Bank PLC.

According to Bangladesh Bank sources, administrators at the remaining three banks-First Security Islami Bank, Global Islami Bank and Union Bank-are expected to be withdrawn gradually over the next two weeks, reports BSS.
