Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 14 people including women and children for illegally entering Bangladesh from India through  Jibannagar border in Chuadanga early Sunday.

A patrol team of the Jibannagar Border Outpost (BOP) under Maheshpur-58 BGB Battalion conducted the drive around 4:30am and detained them.

During primary interrogation, the detainees told BGB that they had entered India illegally six months ago in search of better job opportunities and were trying to re-enter Bangladesh without valid documents, reports UNB.

Later, BGB handed them over to Jibannagar Police Station.

Jibannagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mamun Hossain Biswas said BGB handed over the 14 intruders to them Sunday noon.

Legal procedures are underway, he said.
