The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has once again revised down the price of gold in the local market, cutting the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,324 per bhori to Tk 2,21,966.

Bajus announced the new price in a notice on Thursday which came into effect from 10 am.

The trade body said the decision was taken in view of the fall in prices of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market, prompting the revision of VAT-inclusive gold prices to reflect the overall situation.

According to the new price chart, each bhori (11.664 grams) of 21-carat gold will now cost Tk 2,11,993, 18-carat gold Tk 1,82,075, and traditional gold Tk 1,48,774, all inclusive of VAT.

Bajus said the new prices will remain effective at all jewellery shops across the country until further notice, though making charges will apply depending on the design of ornaments.

Since VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, shops cannot charge VAT separately from customers.

The previous rules of Bajus regarding exchange and purchase of ornaments - excluding specified VAT, making charges and cost of stones will remain unchanged.

This is the second price adjustment this month, after Bajus had cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,266 per bhori to Tk 2,25,290 on July 6.

So far in 2026, gold prices have been adjusted 88 times in the local market, with 43 upward revisions, 44 downward revisions, and one VAT adjustment.

Alongside gold, the price of silver has also been reduced. The price of 22-carat silver has been cut by Tk 292 per bhori to Tk 4,607.

The new prices for other categories of silver have been set at Tk 4,374 per bhori for 21-carat, Tk 3,791 for 18-carat, and Tk 2,858 for traditional silver.

Silver prices have been adjusted 54 times so far in 2026, with 27 upward and 27 downward revisions, reports UNB.
