Aarong, Bangladesh’s iconic fashion and lifestyle brand, has unveiled its latest flagship outlet in Dhanmondi—a landmark retail destination that proudly holds the title of the world’s largest craft store. The grand opening, celebrated with fanfare, marks a new chapter in the nation’s retail evolution and reaffirms Bangladesh’s place as a global hub for artisanal excellence.

Spanning an impressive 60,000 square feet across eight floors, the flagship store is an architectural masterpiece designed to showcase the creative brilliance of Bangladeshi craftsmanship. According to a press release on Friday, this new space is more than just a retail outlet—it is a bold statement of artistry, innovation, and cultural pride.

The building’s striking façade and carefully curated interiors reflect Aarong's deep commitment to uplifting local artisans and preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage. Every corner of the store tells a unique story, and the design is a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

As visitors explore the expansive space, they are greeted by a series of monumental art installations that celebrate Bangladesh’s artistic legacy:

   - A 4-Storey Nakshi Kantha: This towering, intricate piece of embroidery sits at the heart of the store, paying homage to one of Bangladesh's most cherished handicrafts. It beautifully narrates the history of Aarong through thread and fabric.

   - Clay Pottery Wall: A tactile art installation made from handcrafted clay pieces that brings together the timeless art of pottery with a contemporary sensibility, symbolizing Aarong’s spirit of innovation.

   - Alchemy: This mesmerizing sculpture, created from copper and repurposed glass, hangs elegantly from the ceiling, casting a warm, ethereal glow throughout the store and reflecting the brand's sustainability ethos.

In addition to offering the most diverse range of handcrafted textiles, the store boasts exclusive artisanal décor and unique home accents. Special attention has been given to the children’s wear section, which features an enchanting, forest-themed playpen—an interactive wonderland that allows young minds to explore while parents shop in comfort.

At the pinnacle of this architectural marvel lies the Orange Parrot restaurant on the 7th floor, set to open by the end of the year. The restaurant promises an unforgettable dining experience with a fusion of traditional Bangladeshi and international cuisines, offering sweeping views of Dhanmondi from its serene terrace.

“This groundbreaking flagship store represents Bangladesh’s bold leap into the future,” said Tamara Abed, Managing Director of BRAC Enterprises. “It reflects Aarong’s mission to preserve and celebrate our artisanal heritage while offering a world-class shopping experience. Every product we offer carries a story and a connection to the skilled hands that create it. This store marks a new era for Aarong, signaling our ambitions to take Bangladeshi craftsmanship to the global stage.”

Founded in 1978, Aarong has grown into a household name, celebrated for its dedication to preserving and promoting Bangladesh’s craft traditions. The new flagship store in Dhanmondi is a testament to the brand's enduring legacy and its commitment to shaping the future of the retail and fashion landscape.
