Gold Price Raised Again to Tk2.10 Lakh per Bhori
Jewellers have increased the price of gold by Tk2,403, setting the new rate at Tk2,10,570 per bhori (11.664 grammes) following a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The decision was made on Saturday at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS).
On 20 October, the price of gold hit a record high of Tk2,17,382 per bhori.
Under the revised tariff, 22-carat gold will now cost Tk18,053 per gramme, while 21-carat gold is priced at Tk17,233 per gramme, according to a press release signed by committee chairman Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been set at Tk14,771 per gramme and traditional gold at Tk12,288 per gramme.
The new rates take effect on Sunday.
Silver prices remain unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk364 per gramme, 21-carat Tk347, 18-carat Tk298, and traditional silver Tk223 per gramme.
Buyers must also pay a 5% VAT set by the government, along with a minimum 6% making charge fixed by BAJUS, which may vary depending on design and quality.
