Sylhet, August 1 -- Students of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital blocked the main road of the college demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those relatives of a patient who attacked two intern doctors at the hospital on Monday night.

Sources said two relatives of a patient at the hospital misbehaved with an intern doctor on Sunday. Later, they were handed over to the police.

To take revenge for the incident, relatives of the patient entered the college campus and chopped two intern doctors.

Injured interns are Rudro and Naimur Rahman Imon. They were admitted to the hospital.

Ahmad Muntakim Chowdhury, general secretary of MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital Intern Chikitsak Parishad said, “We have called strike protesting the attack by the outsiders. Our strike will continue until their arrest.”

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy-Police Commissioner (North) Md Azhar Ali said they are on the spot and trying to displace the agitated students from the road.

Meanwhile, patients cannot enter the hospital due to blockades triggering immense suffering. - UNB
