DU Journalism Dept celebrates diamond jubilee

Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Dhaka University today celebrated its Diamond Jubilee function amid much enthusiasm and festivity.

A discussion meeting was held this morning with DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman as chief guest at university's Professor Mozaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium. 

Later, the VC opened different programs of the department which will take place throughout the year.

DU MCJ department chairperson Professor Dr. Abul Mansur Ahmed presided over the opening ceremony, while renowned journalist Abed Khan, DU Social Science Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Zia Rahman addressed as special guests, conducted by Associate Professor Shabnam Azim and Prof Robaet Ferdous.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Akhtaruzzaman emphasized on strengthening academia-industry relationships to produce skilled and up-to-date graduates, saying, "Suggestions and recommendations from the industry will be welcomed to increase the efficiency and quality of graduates." 

The VC called upon the students to grow up as skilled human resources and to play an effective role in meeting the needs of society. 

A roundtable discussion titled 'Interaction and Interdependence between Academia and Industry' was also held on the occasion, reports BSS.
