Japanese envoy calls on RU VC

During the meeting, they exchanged views related to bilateral and mutual interests of the both countries.



Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Wama Kiminori today called on Vice-chancellor (VC) of Rajshahi University (RU) Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar at the latter's office here.

During the meeting, they exchanged views related to bilateral and mutual interests of the both countries.

They also talked about cooperation of Japanese institutions to RU's different academic fields, particularly higher education and research.

RU VC Prof Golam Sabbir put emphasis on establishing links between Japanese universities and other higher research institutions and RU coupled with exchanging teachers, students and researchers and joint research, conference and workshops.

He also stressed the need to create scopes of higher education and research through more Japanese scholarship and financial support to RU students and teachers.

Both sides also focused on establishing an information and communication technology incubation centre, biotechnology research centre, natural disaster management centre and Japanese Studies Centre at RU.

Besides, they shared views about boosting bilateral cooperation through memorandum on understanding between universities and higher research centres of both the countries.

The RU VC expressed his interest in establishing a Japanese language learning centre at RU.

RU Pro-VC Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam, Treasurer Prof Obayedur Rahman Pramanik, Director of Institute of English and other Languages Prof Abdullah Al Mamun and Chairman of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management Prof Enayet Hossain were present at the meeting.
