BOU begins workshop on blended learning

Speaking on the occasion, the BOU VC put emphasis on the use of technology for teaching to materialize the vision 2041.



A three-day workshop titled 'Faculty Development on open educational resources (OER) based Blended Learning' began at Bangladesh Open University (BOU) in Gazipur Sunday.

BOU Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Syed Humayun Akhter inaugurated the workshop as chief guest at the university's e-Learning Centre, said a BOU press release.

With financial and technological support from the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), BOU Open School organized the workshop that will end on December 19.

Speaking on the occasion, the BOU VC put emphasis on the use of technology for teaching to materialize the vision 2041.

"Information technology is an integral part of everyone's life. In this context, we must utilize this opportunity," Humayun said.

Professor Dr Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, Pro-VC of Sangam University, Rajasthan, India, will conduct different sessions during the workshop.

BOU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (admin) Professor Dr Nasim Banu, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (academic) Professor Dr Mahbuba Nasreen, Treasurer Professor Mostofa Azad Kamal and Registrar Dr. Md. Shafiqul Alam were present at the inaugural function, among others.

Dean of BOU Open School Professor Dr Sabina Yesmin chaired the inaugural function. A total of 32 teachers of the university are participating in the workshop.
