Dhaka, 12 February 2022: The closing ceremony of three-day conference of ‘BUP International Model United Nations Conference-2021’ was held on 12 February 2022 at Bijoy Auditorium organized by BUP Global Affairs Council (BUPGAC) under the supervision of the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies (FSSS). The aim of the conference was to enhance extracurricular activities of BUP students, boost up the inter-university student relations and international networking through diplomacy learning and practice.

Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni, MP, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Ministry of Education was present as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes among the awardees in the closing ceremony. Vice Chancellor of BUP Major General Md Moshfequr Rahman, SGP, SUP, ndc, psc attended as Special Guest. Dean of FSSS Brigadier General Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, ndc, psc moderated the programme.

The conference started on 10 February 2022 and ended on 12 February 2022. The theme of this year was ‘Fostering the Economy Through the Technological Advancement to Tackle Post Pandemic Catastrophe’. In this three-day conference, nearly 300 students from 27 colleges and universities around Bangladesh and 10 delegates from 6 different countries participated. The 8 committees of the conference discussed on 8 contemporary issues and their relevant solutions.

The Chief Guest in her speech said that the youth will take Bangladesh forward keeping the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the Bangali nation for thousand years to build a sustainable and prosperous Bangladesh. He added that through the ‘BUP International Model United Nations Conference’, the youth will be aware of various global problems and will play a significant role in solving those problems to build a world of equality, and harmony.

Among others, BUP Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain, Senior Officials, Faculty Members, Representatives from various colleges and universities, invited guests and journalist were also present. – Press release
