Students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University staged a demonstration on Thursday, blocking the busy Agargaon intersection in Dhaka around 11am to press home their three-point demand.

The protesting students brought traffic to a standstill in the area, causing significant disruptions for commuters. Holding placards and chanting slogans, the students called for the fulfillment of demands that closely resemble those raised by students from various engineering universities across the country.

While the students did not disclose all the details of their demands during the initial stages of the protest, they hinted that key issues include curriculum reform, improved recognition of their degrees in the job market, and updates to administrative policies affecting their future careers.

One of the protesters stated, “We are not asking for anything unreasonable. We want our education and qualifications to be valued fairly, just like students from other technical institutions.”

Police were deployed to the scene to maintain order, but the demonstration remained peaceful as of the time of reporting. Discussions between student representatives and university officials are reportedly underway in an attempt to resolve the issue.

This protest comes amid a wider wave of student movements demanding policy reforms and equal opportunities in education and employment sectors.

Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
