IU appoints new dean, chairman

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia have appointed a new dean for the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies and a new chairman for the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (BTGE).


According to an office order signed by the university's acting registrar, Prof Dr. Manjurul Haque, Prof Dr. Md. Sekander Ali of the Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies Department has been appointed as the new dean of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies.

Meanwhile, Prof Dr. Abu Hena Mostofa Jamal of the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Department has been made the new chairman of the BTGE department.

The order stated that Prof Sekander Ali will serve as dean for two years under Section 23(4) of the Islamic University Act, 1980 (amended in 2010), while Prof Abu Hena Mostofa Jamal will serve as chairman for three years in accordance with the amended Section 10(1) of the university's first statute, reports BSS.
