Popular playwright, director Mohon Khan passes awayPopular playwright and director Mohon Khan passed away on Tuesday night. He was 65.

He breathed his last at about 12 midnight while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.

Mohon Khan had been undergoing treatment for a long time.

He left behind his wife, a son and a daughter.

He was buried at Azimpur graveyard on Wednesday afternoon after a namaz-e-janaza at Lalmatia Shahi Jame Mosque.

Mohon Khan's nephew Tushar Khan said his uncle underwent medical treatment at a hospital in Dhaka more than a month. He suddenly fell sick last month. After examination, doctors learnt that he had a tumour in his brain. His family decided to remove the tumour on urgent basis. Then his condition was improving gradually. Meantime, another operation was carried out at the 'pressure point' above the spinal cord in the neck. Since then he had been on life support.

Over his long career, Mohon Khan has directed over 500 dramas and written around 200 of them. Those include 'Samudre Gangchil,' 'Sei Aamra,' 'Nirer Khonje Gangchil' 'Jege Otho Samudra' and 'Angur Lota.' BTV's popular drama, "Titir o Shankhachil", was written by him.
