Rizwana Calls for Reducing Fossil Fuels to Fight Climate Change

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser, highlighted the critical role of fossil fuel consumption in driving climate change during a recent program at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).
In a video message for the event titled "Journalism in the Age of Energy Transition: COP29 Coverage Strategies and Mentoring," she emphasized the urgent need to decrease fossil fuel usage, adapt development models, and collaborate to combat pollution.
Rizwana encouraged journalists to leverage their training to effectively cover COP29 and support vulnerable communities through actionable initiatives.
The event, chaired by PIB Director General Faruk Wasif, featured CAPS Chairman Professor Dr. Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder as moderator and BRAC University Emeritus Professor Dr. Ainun Nishat as guest of honor. Special guests included Naoka Martinez Backstrom, First Secretary for Environment and Climate Change at the Swedish Embassy, and M Abdullah, Managing Director of the Journalists Welfare Trust.
