Damaged vehicles lie in the Rehari neighbourhood of Jammu following Pakistan’s military operation against India on 10 May 2025.

At least five people, including a senior government official, were killed and several others injured in heavy Pakistani shelling across Rajouri, Poonch, and Jammu districts in the early hours of Saturday.

The official, identified as Raj Kumar Thapa, Additional District Development Commissioner of Rajouri, was critically injured when an artillery shell struck his official residence in Rajouri town. He was taken to the government medical college, where he later died from his injuries. Two of his staff members were also seriously wounded.

Elsewhere, a 55-year-old woman named Rashida Bi was killed when a mortar round hit her house in Kanghra-Galhutta village, located in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district.

Another fatality occurred in Jammu district’s RS Pura area, where Ashok Kumar, also known as Shoki, of Bidipur Jatta village, was killed by cross-border gunfire near the International Border.

Three others were reported injured in separate shelling incidents across parts of Poonch. Explosions and suspected drone activity also caused injuries in residential areas of Jammu city, including Rehari and Rupnagar.
