No unregistered clinics can exist in Bangladesh anymore, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has said.

No unregistered clinics can exist in Bangladesh anymore, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has said “If our health system, whether government or private, cannot offer minimum services, and can’t treat people, then it is intolerable,” said Prof Dr Ahmedul Kabir, additional director general (administration) of DGHS.

He made the statement while speaking to civil surgeons at a national workshop on Covid-19 vaccine campaign for children aged 5-11 years on Saturday.

He added: "Unregistered clinics and those that are cheating in the name of health service, have been shut down. It's a very primitive work, so we are not saying we have done something extraordinary.”

He also mentioned that If one does not keep the registration number in their institution then they will be treated as unregistered.

Dr Ahmedul Kabir later assured the people present at the program that no unregistered clinics would exist in any district, let alone those that are not providing proper services.

The DGHS once again launched a nationwide drive against illegal diagnostic centres and clinics on August 29.

Several clinics, hospitals, and other health service institutes were shut down, and fined for irregularities across Bangladesh.

According to DGHS, a total of 1,641 health institutions were closed in the last campaign. As a result of the campaign, a revenue of Tk25 crore was generated from the registration application.
