A writ petition seeking the judicial investigation into the recent railway crossing accidents that took place in Mirsarai and  Gopalganj was filed with the High Court division today.

Barrister Tapas Kanti Bal, lawyer of the writ petitioner, told BSS that the  petitioner Mohiuddin Roni, sought directions to investigate these accidents under the leadership of a retired judge of the Appellate Division via his writ.

An adequate amount of compensation has also been asked for the victims of railway crossing accidents in Mirsarai and Gopalganj districts, he added.

Roni, a student of Dhaka University's theatre and performance studies department, had been protesting against the mismanagement and corruption of the railways since July 7.

Upon the assurance of proper measures following an investigation by senior railway officials, he suspended the protest on July 25, reports BSS.
