A youth has been convicted and sentenced to five years jail as he was found guilty for cyber crimes in Rajshahi.
A youth has been convicted and sentenced to five years jail as he was found guilty on charges of spreading rumors in social media around eleven years back.
The convict has been identified as Muhammad Razib, 20, son of Abdur Razzaque of Bargachhi Hazipara village under Durgapur upazila in the district. He was
also fined Taka five lakh, in default- to suffer one year more behind the bar.
Rajshahi Divisional Cyber Tribunal Judge Ziaur Rahman handed down the verdict in presence of the convict Tuesday.
Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Advocate Ismat Ara told the local journalists that Razib had uploaded a post in his facebook in October 2011
stating that there will be needed human heads in Padma Bridge. In his post,he also stated that a group of people are roaming in their area for heads.
So, the people should remain alert in this regard.
Subsequently, a case has been lodged with Durgapur Police Station. Upon completion of investigation police pressed charges against him.
After examining recorded depositions of the enlisted prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidence the tribunal pronounced the verdict.
