Court issues warrant against 2 'militants'

A special court of Dhaka has issued arrest warrant against Ansar-al Islam militants Abu Siddiq Sohel and Moinul Hasan Shamim, who were whisked away by their associates from police custody at Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court arena on November 20 of last year.

Judge Mojibur Rahman of the Anti-Terrorism Tribunal of Dhaka issued the warrant order in a case filed with the capital's Mohammadpur Police Station.

Confirming the matter to the media, tribunal clerk Pervej Bhuiyan said the court adjourned the hearing in the case till February 27.

Abu Siddiq Sohel and Moinul Hasan Shamim, who were convicted and sentenced to death in a case lodged over the murder of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipon, were whisked away by their cohorts beating police and spraying some chemical on their eyes. - Special Correspondent
