A Dhaka court on Monday (February 27) set April 16 next for submitting probe report in a case lodged over the sensational murder of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afran Prity.

A Dhaka court on Monday (February 27) set April 16 next for submitting probe report in a case lodged over the sensational murder of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afran Prity in the city’s Shahjahanpur area.

Monday was fixed for submitting the probe report, but the investigation officer of the case failed to submit the report, prompting Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury to fix the fresh date.

Tipu, who was on his microbus destined for his home, was shot dead by a masked assailant in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area at the night of March 24, 2022.

Rickshaw passenger Samia Afran Prity was also killed in the incident.

Tipu’s wife Farhana Islam Dolly filed the case with Shahjahanpur Police station on March 25.

Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested main shooter Masum Mohammad alias Akash from Bogura. During primary interrogation, Masum admitted that he killed Tipu.
