Madaripur court sentences 23 to death in murder case

A Madaripur court has sentenced 23 people to death and six others to life imprisonment in the murder of Rajib Sarder today.

Madaripur Additional District and Sessions Judge Lailatul Ferdous passed the order on Tuesday afternoon in connection with the murder of Rajib Sarder, he was killed a decade ago. Besides, the court acquitted four other accused of the case.

The court’s Public Prosecutor (PP) Siddiqur Rahman Singh confirmed the information to the media.

According to the case statement, the victim was returning home after doing his works in his uncle Ali Hawladar’s nursery on September 1, 2012. Following previous enmity, the convicted persons attacked Razib Sardar in Harikumaria area of municipality, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was taken to Madaripur Sadar Hospital and immediately shifted to Dhaka. But he died on the way to Dhaka. - Special Correspondent
