The case filed against former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akhter, and three others under the Digital Security Act (DSA) was transferred to the Dhaka Cyber Tribunal today for trial.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Asekh Imam of Dhaka CMM Court passed the order on Thursday.

Earlier on April 27, a Dhaka court fixed May 11 to pass its order on whether to accept the charge-sheet of the case submitted against Babul Akter and three others in a case filed by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chief under the DSA.

Investigation Officer of the case and Dhanmandi Police Station Inspector (Operation) submitted the charge-sheet against Babul Akter, his father Md Abdul Wadud, 72, brother Md Habibur Rahman Labu, 45 and expatriate YouTuber Elias Hossain, on April 7.

PBI Chief Banaj Kumar Majumder filed the case under the DSA and Special Powers Act with capital’s Dhanmandi Police Station on September 27 of last year.

The PBI Chief in his case brought allegations of spreading false and untrue information to tarnish his and the image of police against the four accused. - Special Correspondent
