Dhaka, Oct 22 - A Judge of a Dhaka court has received death threat, two and a half months after the court sentenced BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman in a graft case.

On August 2, Judge Md Asaduzzaman of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court of Dhaka sentenced Tarique Rahman to nine years and Dr Zubaida to three years in prison in their absence in the graft case filed in 2007.

“On October 17, we got two letters, containing death threats for Judge Md Asaduzzaman for convicting BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman”, Shah Md Mamun, Nazir of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, told the media.

A General Diary (GD) was filed with Kotwali Police Station about the death threat that day, he said.

Md Asaduzzaman is also serving as a judge with the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court and Metropolitan Special Tribunal-1 of Dhaka.
