Remand

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed ‘bomb expert Mukit alias Boma Maulana’, allegedly mastermind of cocktail attacks on the premises of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court on a four-day remand in a case filed under Special Powers Act of Lalbagh Police Station.

Metropolitan Magistrate Zake Al Farabi passed the order after police produced him in the court and pleaded to place on four-day remand for questioning.

Earlier, on December 25, a team of Lalbagh Division of Detective Branch (DB) arrested him from Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka.

According to the DB, arrested Boma Maulana collected gunpowder and made about 400 bombs from October 27 to December 16.

Later, these bombs were allegedly delivered to different areas of the capital. Jubo Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku allegedly supplied gunpowder to make bomb.

“They (bomb attackers) were rewarded after pictures of vandalism or arson attack were sent to London. One of the bomb supplied by Boma Maulana was detonated on the premises of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court,” the DB added.
