Man gets life term for killing wife in Sirajganj

Judge of Sirajganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Begum Salma Khatun handed down the verdict to Masud, 41, hailed from



 A court here Thursday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in 2008 in Tarash Upazila of the district.

Judge of Sirajganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Begum Salma Khatun handed down the verdict to Masud, 41, hailed from 

Arangail village in the Upazila. 

The court also fined Masud Tk 1 lakh, in default, to serve one year more in jail. 

According to the prosecution story, on August 27 in 2008 convict Masud strangled his wife Mukti to death over family feud at their house. Following the 

murder, Mukti’s father filed a case with Tarash Thana. Later, police pressed the charge sheet aga.

After testifying witnesses and evidences the court gave the verdict, said Mokter Hossain, the reader of the court.
