Ex-secretary Kamal remanded in foreign currency case

A court here has placed Shah Kamal, former senior secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, on five-day remand in a case lodged under The Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahammed passed the order as police produced Kamal before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand in the case.
Earlier on 16 August, police raided Shah Kamal's residence in Mohammadpur Babar Road area and seized Taka 3.11 crore worth of local and foreign currencies, reports BSS.
Detective branch (DB) of police arrested him from capital's Mohakhali area and showed him arrested in the case.
