In addition, Dr. Dipu Moni, joint general secretary of the Awami League and former minister, was granted a 4-day remand in a murder case. Sub-Inspector Md Rezaul Alam of Badda Police Station, who is investigating the murder of Suman Sikder, requested the remand. Earlier, on August 20, Dr. Moni had been remanded for her alleged involvement in the killing of Abu Sayed, a grocery store owner, during a student rally in Mohammadpur.

On August 15, former army major general Ziaul Ahsan was arrested in Khilkhet, Dhaka.
