The High Court has cancelled the appointment letters of 6,531 assistant teacher candidates in government primary schools, declaring their recruitment unlawful.

A bench of Justice Fatema Nazib and Justice Shikder Mahmudur Rajib issued the order on Thursday, overturning the appointments.

Earlier, on November 19, 2024, the court had stayed the government's decision to issue appointment letters to these candidates. The stay order was passed as their recruitment was conducted under a quota system that had been scrapped by the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in July the same year.

This ruling upholds the Supreme Court’s decision, effectively nullifying the appointments.
