A court here today sentenced three people to life imprisonment in a murder case that took place in Sadar upazila in 2019.

The convicts are Mujibur Sheikh, Forkan Hawlader, and Md. Mahbub, all residents of different areas under the upazila.

District and Sessions Judge Md. Mujibur Rahman pronounced the verdict this afternoon, a court official said.

The court also acquitted five other accused as the charges brought against them were not proven.

According to the prosecution, on April 9, 2019, the convicts beat Jamal Howlader of Kumirmara village in Sadar upazila while he was returning home around 10 pm from his tea stall in the Sluice Gate area of the village.

Critically injured Jamal succumbed to his injuries on April 10 while undergoing treatment at Pirojpur Sadar Hospital.

The victim's brother, Kamal Howlader, filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station against eight people in this connection, reports BSS.
