DHAKA—Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor was dismissed bizarrely in the second ODI against Bangladesh, something the cricket world rarely saw.

Taylor is the pillar of Zimbabwe's batting. He changed the batting order from three to four in the match to save the series as his side was down 0-1 in the three-match series following their 155-run defeat in the first game. From the beginning, he tried to stay on the wicket, to run slowly without taking extra risks. That's how his innings was going.

But he made an unintentional mistake on the way to repairing the Zimbabwe innings.  Taylor wanted to cut the length ball of pacer Shoriful Islam. His timing was not good but it didn’t do any harm as the ball went to the wicket-keeper of Bangladesh. What happened next was completely a surreal thing as Taylor practiced the shadow of the shot and in the process hit the stumps when he got the bat down. As the bails were fallen, Bangladesh fielders applied for out.

Two on field umpires, Marias Erasmus and Iknow Chabi talked to each other and sought the help of the TV umpire Langton Rusere. After watching the TV replay, the umpire called it out and Taylor had to leave the ground.

Before being dismissed, Taylor struck 46 off 57, hitting five fours and one six. Playing his 201st ODI, Taylor was out hit wicket for the first time in his career.BSS
