
Dhaka, 6 Oct - Farzana Easmim Medha put on a stellar all-round performance as Bangladesh Women’s Under-19 team edged Pakistan past by 13 runs in the Women’s U19 Tri-nation Series at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad today.
The victory, their second in the third match, propelled them to the top of the table for the time being.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh posted 139-5 in their allotted 20 overs before the bowlers acted in disciplined manner to hold Pakistan back to 126-7.
Sadia Akter led the scoring-chart for Bangladesh with run-a-ball 33 while Farzana Easmim Medha struck 28 off 22 and Sadia Islam added 24 from 21.
Medha then demonstrated her talent with the willow, claiming 3-25, which eventually broke the spine of Pakistan’s batting line up.
Komal Khan top-scored for Pakistan with 36 off 29 balls and gave the side a fluent start. Ravail Farhan and Jufishan Ayaz both contributed 32 to keep the hosts in contention.
Bangladesh, however, tightened their grip in the latter stages, taking wickets at regular intervals and strangling Pakistan, thanks to Medha’s incredible performance.
Pakistan required 21 runs from the final over but managed only seven, finishing on 126 for seven in 20 overs.
Apart from Medha, Nishita Akhtar Nishi claimed 2-28, while Tithi Das Aparna returned impressive figures of one for eight.
The victory gave Bangladesh their second win over Pakistan in the tournament. They had earlier defeated Pakistan by 30 runs in the opening match before losing to Sri Lanka.BSS
