Dhaka, 21 Dec -India were hit by injury once again as KL Rahul, who is leading the side in absence of injured Rohit Sharma was latest to join the long injury list and is at risk of missing the second Test against Bangladesh, starting Wednesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
If he misses the second Test, Cheteshwar Pujara, who is the vice-captain will lead the side as India look to sweep the two-match series following their 188-run win in the first Test.
India batting coach Vikram Rathour said that KL Rahul got a blow to his hand while batting in the nets on the eve of the match. But at the same time, he though indicated that Rahul's injury wasn't serious, he didn't confirm whether Rahul is certain to start the match.
"It doesn't look serious. He seems to be fine. Hopefully he'll be okay. The doctors are looking at it, but hopefully he'll be okay," Rathour said here today.
Rahul took the blow to his hand towards the end of his nets session when Rathour was delivering the throwdowns to him. He was seen rubbing the injured area, and was attended to by the team doctor.
If Rahul is unavailable, Abhimanyu Easwaran, who initially came into the squad as Rohit's standby can make his debut.
The blow to Rahul's hand is the latest in a series of injuries India have suffered in recent weeks. Jasprit Bumrah is a long-term absentee with a stress fracture of the back, while as many as seven players were ruled out of the ODI series at various points - including first-choice Test players Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami.
