Dhaka, 23 Dec -Despite trailing by 80 runs, Bangladesh will try to
set a 250-run target for India in the fourth innings to win the second and final Test, said left-arm spinner Taijul Islam.
But according to him, to set such sort of target, Bangladesh need to bat throughout the third day.
"If Bangladesh can take a lead of 250 runs, I will not say it is bad, I will definitely say it is good," Taijul said after the second day's play.
"But if we want to take a lead of 250 runs we have to play all day tomorrow.
It really remains to be seen how the wicket will be on the fourth and fifth day. So I think it won't be bad."
India were wrapped up for 314 in their first innings, despite Taijul and Shakib Al Hasan shared eight wickets. That gave the visitors a handy lead of 87 runs and Bangladesh then ended the day two at seven without loss, trailing by 80 runs.
Taijul admitted that the counterattack of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer took the game away from them as they conceded the lead. Pant and Iyer put up 157-run for the fifth wicket after India were reduced to 94-4. The duo scored 140 runs in the second session, which tilted the game towards India, Taijul said.
"The middle session actually cost us a bit. If we could have contained them with a little less runs, we would have been in a better position. Still, I'd say we're not in a bad place," he added.
To make the matter worse, Bangladesh also put down three catches of the duo.
"In fact we have a bit of Lacking here to be honest. Lacking is such that if you play against big teams, you may not get these opportunities. However we'll try to recover it."
