India celebrate dismissal of Sri Lanka

Dhaka, Sept 16 — Mohammad Siraj tore through the Sri Lankan batting lineup, claiming six wickets for a mere 12 runs. India swiftly bundled out Sri Lanka for a paltry 50 runs in the Asia Cup final on Saturday.

India, who already hold the record of winning the most number of Asia Cup titles, 7, are now set to win their eight, and for that, they just need 51 runs.

Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first, but luck was not on their side. The home side lost their first wicket in the opening over, and in the third over, four more wickets tumbled.

Siraj's performance in the third over was nothing short of spectacular, as he clinched four wickets. Although a hat-trick narrowly eluded him, that one over effectively removed Sri Lanka from contention.

His impressive figures of six for 12 now stand as the second-best bowling performance for India in overall ODIs.

As for Sri Lanka, a staggering nine batters were dismissed with single-digit scores, with five of them enduring a duck each. It was a day that the Sri Lankan team would undoubtedly prefer to erase from memory. - UNB
