Mumbai, India, 24 Oct- Bangladesh batter Mahmudullah Riyad scored a third World Cup century, the most by a Bangladesh batter, but it had little effect as the Tigers succumbed to a 149-run loss against South Africa in their World Cup encounter at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today.

Riyad managed a run-a-ball 111 notching up his fourth ODI ton but his knock could only help Bangladesh reduce the margin of defeat as the Tigers were bundled out for 233 in pursuit of South Africa's daunting 382 for five. Proteas pacer Gerald Coetzee picked up three wickets, while pacer partners Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, and Lizaad Williams scalped two each.

Earlier, South Africa piled on the runs after opting to bat first as they posted 382 for five, courtesy of Quinton de Kock's 140-ball 174 and Heinrich Klaasen's 49-ball 90.

Bangladesh batter Mahmudullah Riyad brought up his fourth ODI ton but is will help the only to curtail the margin of a likely defeat against South Africa in Mumbai today. The century is Mahmudullah's third in a World Cup, the most by a Bangladesh batter followed by Shakib Al Hasan with two and Mushfiqur Rahim, who has one century in a World Cup.

He took 104 ball to each the landmark and was dismissed shortly after when he tried to take on Gerald Coetzee over deep cover. He put away 11 fours and two sixes for his run-a-ball 111.
