DHAKA -Bangladesh's group deciding fixture against Sri Lanka in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup was abandoned today at Sharjah Cricket

Stadium after one of the field umpires returned Covid-19 positive.

Abu Emam Kawsar, manager of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) Game
Development, confirmed the matter, saying that despite being abandoned,
Bangladesh moved to the semifinal as group champions.

He further said Bangladesh youngsters will take on India in the semifinal
on Thursday.

India finished as runners-up in Group A, behind their archrivals Pakistan.

"A field umpire returned Covid-19 positive today and therefore the match
was declared abandoned. As per the net-run-rate we finished the group B as
champions. We will take on India who became runners-up in Group A," he told
the reporters today.

Sri Lanka, the runners-up of Group B will take on Pakistan in the last-
four match.

Put into bat first, Bangladesh reached 130-4 in 32.4 overs before the game
was postponed. Earlier, Bangladesh crushed Kuwait by 227 runs and whacked
Nepal past by 154 runs. The two big margin victories basically gave them the edge in the net-run-rate.BSS
