Bangladesh’s bid to seal the three-match T20 International series against New Zealand was delayed after persistent rainforced the second game call off today at Bay Oval in Maunt Maunganui.
The Tigers lead the series 1-0, courtesy to their five-wicket victory in thefirst game. With the second match being abandoned, the third game, which willbe held at the same venue on Sunday will decide series.
Bangladesh sent New Zealand in to bat first after winning the all importanttoss once again. Pacer Shoriful Islam continued his rich vein of form byremoving Finn Allen for just 2 in the second over.
Unlike the first game, when they were slumped to just one for three wickets,Tim Seifert came down heavily on Bangladesh bowlers, to help the hostsrecover.
As New Zealand looked to take the control of the game, Tanzim Hasan Sakib gotthe better of Seifert after he blasted 43 off 23 with six fours and one six.His dismissal stifled New Zealand as the home side reached 72-2 in 11 overs.
The rain then eventually washed out the match with Daryl Mitchell and GlennPhillips batting on 18 and 9 runs respectively, reports BSS.
