Two centuries, one six-fer on Day 1 of NCL 4th round

Dhaka, 9 Nov -The Day 1 of the fourth round of 26th National Cricket League (NCL) saw two centuries and a six-fer at different venues  across the country today.

Ariful Haq hit 103 not out amid a batting debacle that left his side Rangpur Division in troublesome position. Pacer Sabbir Hosan took 6-47 to cause havoc on Rangpur and put Rajshahi on top.

Another century of the day came from the willow of Amite Hasan who in fact continued his rich vein of form. His teammate Pinak Ghosh however fell for nervous 99, missing his century by whisker.

Sylhet vs Khulna

Captain Amite Hasan continued his rich vein of form to help Sylhet Division reach a strong position against Khulna Division at Cox's Bazar Cricket Academy today.

Amite was not out 109 as Sylhet reached 244-3 before the bails were drawn. 
But while Amite could reach magical three-figure mark, opener Pinak Ghosh was not lucky enough.

He fell for nervous 99 but gave the side a positive start after Sylhet opted to bat first. 

Despite another opener Taufiq Khan Tushar was dismissed cheaply, Pinak kept the side on course with his calculative batting. 

Sylhet received another setback when Mubin Ahmed Dishan was out for 21 but Pinak and Amite combined for a 168-run for the third wicket to set the platform of a big total. 

Mahedi Hasan removed Pinak after he hit a dozen of boundaries and one six in his 218-ball-innings. 

Asadullah Galib was batting on 8 along with Amite when umpires called it a day. 

Rangpur vs Rajshahi

Despite a valiant century of Ariful Haque, Rangpur Division were bowled out for 189 in its first innings on Day 1 against Rajshahi Division at Rajshahi Stadium. 

Amid the batting debacle, Ariful stood tall to make 103 not out, playing 161 balls and hitting 13 fours and two sixes.

The second best 28 came from the willow of Naeem Islam while Abudl Gaffar Saqlain contributed 16.

Pacer Sabbir Hosan was the wrecker-in-chief, claiming his career-best 6-47.Put into bat first, Rangpur fell in deep trouble losing the three top order batters for single digit figure before Naeem and skipper Akbar Ali held Rajshahi bowlers but for a brief time.

Sabbir dismissed both of them before Ariful came up with resistance and single-handedly took the side past 150-run mark.

Rajshahi reached 39-1 at stumps with Habibur Rahman (12) and Sabbir Hossain (17) in the crease. 

 
Chattogram vs Barishal

Enamul Haque Ashiq and Ashraful Hasan claimed three wickets apiece as Chattogram Division put them on top against Barishal Division at Cox's Bazar Stadium.

As they shared six wickets between them evenly, Barishal found them in wanting. But Tasamul Haque hit 53 to help them reach 236-7 at stumps.

Moin Khan was batting on 43 when the bails were drawn for the day.

Barishal got a good start through Iftekhar Hossain Ifti and Abdul Mazid after opting to bat first.

They shared 62 runs for the opening stand before Ashraful struck to dismiss Mazid for 39. Ifti also was removed by Ashraful after scoring 37.

Ashiq then caused a middle order havoc, leaving Barishal 120-5. Tasamul resisted and helped the side go past 200-run mark.

 
Dhaka Metro vs Dhaka
Shamsur Rahman Shuvo helped Dhaka Metro recover from a shaky start to reach 233-6 against Dhaka Division at Sylhet Cricket Academy.
Shamsur eventually was dismissed for 86, missing out his well-deserved ton by 14 runs. He struck nine fours and one six, playing 209 balls. 
Opener Naim Sheikh though earned Dhaka a good start after being asked to bat first, his fellow opener Mahfijul Islam Robin was out for cheaply.
Naim also was removed for 31, leaving the side at 48-2 and soon it was made 66-3 when Marhsall Ayub, the centurion of the previous match, was out for 5.
Shamsur and Aich Mollah then shared 49-run to bring the side back in the contest with Mollah being out on 42.
Shamsur added 72-run with Tajjibul Islam for the sixth wicket before he was dismissed.
Tahjibul was batting on 29 with Abu Haider Rony on 2 at stumps.
Pacer Anamul Haque took 3-46 while Shuvagata Hom snapped up 2-42.
