Shamsur 86 powers Metro after poor start

Dhaka, 9 Nov -Shamsur Rahman Shuvo helped Dhaka Metro recover from a shaky start to reach 233-6 on Day 1 of the fourth round game against Dhaka Division at Sylhet Cricket Academy today.

Shamsur eventually was dismissed for 86, missing out his well-deserved ton by 14 runs. He struck nine fours and one six, playing 209 balls. 

Opener Naim Sheikh though earned Dhaka a good start after being asked to bat first, his fellow opener Mahfijul Islam Robin was out for cheaply.

Naim also was removed for 31, leaving the side at 48-2 and soon it was made 66-3 when Marhsall Ayub, the centurion of the previous match, was out for 5.

Shamsur and Aich Mollah then shared 49-run to bring the side back in the contest with Mollah being out on 42.

Shamsur added 72-run with Tajjibul Islam for the sixth wicket before he was dismissed.

Tahjibul was batting on 29 with Abu Haider Rony on 2 at stumps.

Pacer Anamul Haque took 3-46 while Shuvagata Hom snapped up 2-42.
