Dhaka, 29 Dec-Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi today reached
Dhaka to mentor the Chittagong Kings, which made a comeback to the Bangladesh Premier League after 11 years.
Chittagong Kings earlier appointed Afridi as brand ambassador and mentor.
Shahid Afridi is a familiar name in BPL. He played in the very first season of the BPL when he was recruited by Dhaka Gladiators. After that, he also played for Sylhet Super Stars, Rangpur Riders, Dhaka Dynamites, Comilla Victorians and Dhaka Platoon.
Afridi's record in BPL was also healthy--he scored 539 runs in 35 innings of 45 matches and claimed 57 wickets.
Afridi's title success in the IPL is quite enviable. He won the BPL for three franchisees-- Comilla, Dhaka Gladiators and Dhaka Dynamites. He was last seen in BPL in 2019-20 season.
Later he said goodbye to professional cricket. However, he continued to play in the Legends League and Masters League.
A few days ago, Chittagong Kings announced that Afridi would be given the responsibility of brand ambassador and mentor.
The franchise has also added Shaun Tait and Enamul Haque Junior to their coaching set up. Tait played BPL for Chittagong in 2013. This time, the former Aussie fast bowler will be seen as their head coach. And former Bangladesh spinner Enamul Haque Junior will be his assistant.
