Junior Tigresses beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets

Dhaka, 8 Jan  - Bangladesh Under-19 Women’s team registered a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the third match today in Colombo to keep their hopes to avoid a series defeat alive.

After Bangladesh’s victory, the four-match T20 series scoreline is 2-1 in Sri Lanka’s favour. Bangladesh needs to win the final T20 to draw the series at least.

Electing to bat first, Sri Lankan girls were restricted to 109-6 in 20-over allocation with Dahami Senethma and Hiruni Hansika making team-best 24 each.

For Bangladesh, Anisa Akter Shobha took 2-17.

Opener Fahmida Choya led the charge with 38 as Bangladesh reached 113-6 to win the game in 19.4 overs. Afia Ashima scored 26 and Sadia Islam added 24 to contribute in the victory.

Sri Lanka earlier won the first two matches.

As part of their preparation for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, Bangladesh are playing this series against Sri Lanka.

The showcase event will be held in Malaysia from January 12 to February 2.

Bangladesh are drawn in Group D along with Australia, Nepal and Scotland.-BSS
