Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday, bringing an end to a distinguished career.


"I have decided to retire from international cricket. All praises only for the Almighty Allah," Riyad shared in a heartfelt post on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday evening.

In his message, Riyad expressed his gratitude to everyone who had been part of his journey. "I would like to thank all of my teammates, coaches, and especially my fans who have always supported me," he wrote.

Riyad’s consistent performances and clutch moments over the years had not only secured key victories for Bangladesh but also solidified his status as a beloved figure among cricket fans. His appreciation extended beyond the field, acknowledging every individual who contributed to his success.

In an emotional note, Riyad paid special tribute to his family, particularly his parents, in-laws—especially his father-in-law—and his brother, Emdad Ullah, who has been his coach and mentor since childhood. "My brother Emdad Ullah has been there for me constantly, guiding me like a true mentor," Riyad said, emphasizing the pivotal role family support played in his career.

Riyad also expressed deep gratitude to his wife and children, calling them his unwavering support system through every challenge.
