Four players share lead after 2nd round
Dhaka, 12 March - Four Bangladeshi players - International Master (IM) Manon Reja Neer, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, FIDE Master (FM) Tahsin Tajwar Zia and FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman - shared lead with a maximum of two points in the open section of Asian Zone 3.2 Chess Championship held Tuesday last evening.
They shared the lead along with IM G M H Thilakarante and Wijerrathna Vinuka Dihain of Sri Lanka and FM Mohammad Shuaau of the Maldives after the second round matches held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
In the women's section, International Woman Master (WIM) Rani Hamid shared the lead with a maximum of two points along with three other players from Sri Lanka.
Woman FIDE Master (WFM) Noshin Anjum and WFM Wadifa Ahmed bagged 1.5 points.
In the second round matches, IM Manon Reja Neer defeated Wickramasinghe V W A Vinuda Vidm of Sri Lanka, while IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman defeated Sivathanujan of Sri Lanka, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia defeated Candidate Master (CM) Amarasinghe AACB of Sri Lanka, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman defeated Samaranayake Pamok Methdinu of Sri Lanka, FM Sakline Mostafa Sajid defeated Janukshan B of Sri Lanka, Amit Bikram Roy split point with Sathsindu W M Minura of Sri Lanka and Tanvir Alam defeated Sanviru G H A Dulnith of Sri Lanka.
In the women's section, WIM Rani Hamid beat Yeshey Lhaden of Bhutan, WFM Noshin Anjum split point with WCM Pallie Ehsha Mishela of Sri Lanka, WFM Wadifa Ahmed defeated Sutharsan Mithura of Sri Lanka and Ashiya Sultana defeated WCM Zenobia Wasif of Pakistan.
