Bangladesh stepped ahead in the Chattogram Test on the third morning, adding 113 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 27 overs before lunch.
The hosts ended the session at 404 for 8 in 114 overs, leading by 177 runs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz continued to guide the innings with an unbeaten 76 off 109 balls, hitting 10 boundaries, while debutant Tanzim Hasan supported him with a solid 29* off 57 balls.
The pair shared an unbroken 62-run stand for the ninth wicket, their effort helping Bangladesh cross the 400-run mark, once uncertain after a late-day collapse on Day 2.
Earlier in the session, Taijul Islam was the lone batter dismissed, scoring 20 off 45 balls.
This session firmly put Bangladesh in the driver’s seat, raising hopes of a lead nearing 200. With wickets in hand and Miraz eyeing a century, the hosts look well poised to dictate terms in the remainder of the match.
Earlier, Zimbabwe posted 227 in their first innings. Taijul bagged six for 60 runs for the hosts.
Zimbabwe won the first Test in Sylhet by three wickets. A win or even a draw in Chattogram will ensure the series victory for them, reports UNB.
