Italy qualified for the men's T20 cricket World Cup for the first time on Friday, securing a place at next year's tournament in Sri Lanka and India.

Led by former Australia Test batsman Joe Burns, Italy finished second behind the Netherlands in the European qualifiers to clinch their spot.

The Italians edged out Jersey on net run-rate to take the second qualifying spot despite losing their final match to the Dutch by nine wickets.

Scotland's hopes of appearing at a fifth straight T20 World Cup were ended by a loss to Jersey earlier in the day, reports BSS.

Fifteen of 20 spaces at the 2026 T20 World Cup have now been filled.
