Dhaka, 22 Dec - Rangpur Riders' head coach Mickey Arthur emphasized the importance of careful management in selecting the playing XI for each match in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
With a mix of talented local and foreign players, Rangpur have a wealth of
options to choose from.
The team boasts local talents like Liton Das, Mustafizur Rahman, Towhid
Hridoy, and Mahmudullah Riyad, who will be joined by high-profile
international players like Dawid Malan, Kyle Mayers, Khushdil Shah, Iftikhar
Ahmed, and Faheem Ashraf who all are set to arrive soon.
"We've got about nine overseas players coming in, and we can only play four.
So there are a lot of big decisions to make," Arthur said after his side
Rangpur Riders' practice match against Rajshahi Warriors.
However, he is confident in the team's depth, which allows them to assess
match-ups, opposition, and conditions when selecting the final XI.
"It gives us the flexibility to make the best decisions for each game. We're
in a strong position in that regard," he added.
Despite the star power, Arthur stressed that performance, not reputation,
will determine selection.
"I want to see both overseas and local players perform. That's the only thing
that matters to me. They are here to help us win games," he said.
Arthur also believes that the players' shared goal will ease the pressure of
managing a diverse squad.
"There's no issue with managing these players. They're all fantastic
individuals and excellent cricketers. I hope they'll all be here for one
cause: to deliver performances for Rangpur. That's what matters most."BSS
